The message contained in our text was given to the people of Judah through Isaiah as a warning and a call to return unto the Lord or otherwise face the impending devastation and calamity that will come upon the Land. As at that time, they had forgotten the Lord and turned to other gods. The Lord would withdraw all supplies of food and water and hand them over to the mercy of their enemies, Isaiah warned. It wasn’t easy for Jesus anyway! He abandoned his glory, came down from heaven to earth and died for our sins, even the death on the cross. Thus, the cross which was abnitio, an object of shame, suffering and reproach became a point of significance in our Christian faith. Through the cross we are saved, no longer under the law but grace, however, the narrowness of the way makes it that we are notat freedom to live the way we want. Bible Study Outline written on May 28, 2021 Theme: Be Ye Thankful  Text: 1Thess.5:12-22 M.V:1Thess.5:18 Introduction T hankfulness is synonymous with gratefulness. It is a state of the heart expressed through words or actions in acknowledgement to God or man for what has been done, or promised to be done. It is a virtue required of people, especially believers. Jesus, in several occasions taught his disciples to be thankful. However, it is observed that in most occasions, some do not display this Christian virtue. May be, they felt what God has done is not too important or perhaps, the ones they expected God to do has not been done yet. Thus, they forgot that thanking God for the ones he has done attracts further blessings. A case in point is the story of the Ten (10) who were healed by Jesus (Luke 17:1ff).
