Literally, it points to accepting or acting in accordance with a set rule, decision or recommendation. However, in the context of our study, it has a much deeper meaning. It means to spend quality time with God, to linger in his presence, or to live in the consciousness of His presence. God’s presence could be viewed in three forms, all of which pointing to one thing. First, God is Omnipresent; he is present everywhere at the same time (Psalm 139:6-12). The ministry of Jesus on earth was associated with the use of boat as it was one of the commonest means of transportation at that time. In this passage, boat became not just a means of transportation but a platform from which the good news was sent forth. In all the synoptic Gospels, only Luke recorded this story.
