THE THIRD SERMON DELIEVERED AT ST. PETER’S CHURCH, 65-67 IMMACULATE AVENUE, UMUNGASI ABA BY REVD PRINCE UCHE NWAOHARU ON 30TH JAN., 2011

TOPIC: CREATED FOR A PURPOSE
TEXT: EPHESIANS 2: 10; REV., 4:11

We have established that everything that exists was created by God. The psalmist agreed to this fact when he said that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, Psalm 24:1. He made all things with a design, and the design is to bring pleasure to himself. This implies that, if we bring pleasure to God, we are invariably fulfilling the purpose for which we are created. The questions now are: Have you known the purpose for which you are created? What are you doing today to bring pleasure to God?

Last time I made us understand that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. This means that you are entirely different. There is no where you will go on planet earth and find the same person that is exactly, containing the same genes and DNA that you are made of. And mind you that each and every one of us is created for a purpose. So, if you don’t fulfill the particular purpose God has created you for, no man will fulfill it for you. It therefore, incumbent on you to know why you are here on this earth. Remember, the greatest tragedy of life is not necessarily death, but a life without purpose.

You might find it difficult knowing your purpose (i.e. why you are), but let me inform you that it all starts with God. Because your life has got no meaning and no direction until you are able to answer this question: WHY AM I HERE? Some inspirational books could help you know what God has created you for, but ONLY God knows why and what He has created you for. So how do you know why you are here?

• GO BACK TO THE BASIS
If you would want to know why and what a product is meant for, you either consult the manual or the producer. The manual will guide you on how to use the product to avoid unnecessary mistakes and for effectiveness. You can equally consult the producer for more information. This applies to our topic. The only way to know why God created you is to go to Him. That was why I said that it all starts with God. Knowing your purpose does not come by speculation but by revelation through the knowledge of God’s word. So the Word of God is the manual, while God is the producer, the designer, or even the architect. He knows how you were made and how what you are meant for. It would be disastrous going somewhere else, or rather looking somewhere for help. Your life has got no meaning without God, acknowledging His Sovereignty and Supremacy gives direction and clearer revelation of what you are created for.
